Visiting a farm during Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County's Open Farm Day offers a unique opportunity to explore our region's agricultural landscape firsthand. Participants have the opportunity to interact with farmers and gain insights into the practices and processes that sustain local farming communities. Through tours and hands-on-activities, guests can deepen their understanding of sustainable farming techniques and the importance of agriculture in our region. Open Farm Day fosters a sense of connection between consumers and producers, highlighting the significance of supporting local food systems. Whether you're interested in learning more about where your food comes from or simply enjoying a day exploring Broome County, this event offers something for everyone to enjoy and appreciate.

Open Farm Day is held annually in the spring and fall. The fall date is Saturday, September 28th, 2024 from 10 am until 4 pm unless otherwise noted. Watch this page for updates!

Eleven farms and agricultural businesses are participating in Fall Open Farm Day. Visit as many locations as you like! If you visit four or more locations, you can scan the QR code on your passport to enter to win a gift basket!

  • Apple Hills

    Nestled in the scenic countryside of upstate New York, Apple Hills has become a beloved destination for both locals and visitors alike.

    Those who visit Apple Hills can enjoy their corn maze, wagon rides, a petting zoo, duck races, and a cafe/farm store. Apple Hills is a must-visit destination for fall fun in Greater Binghamton!

  • Broome County Regional Farmers Market

    The Broome County Regional Farmers Market is open year-round on Saturdays and stocked with local produce, meat, poultry, eggs, honey, maple, baked goods, prepared food, and more!

    Join the market on Open Farm Day and visit with their mascot, Buddy the Goat, and participate in other fun activities like an apple taste test, scavenger hunt, and lawn games! Please note that the Market will be open from 9 am to 1 pm only.

  • Country Wagon Produce

    Country Wagon is a one stop shop for local produce, meats, cheeses, spices, dressings, dips, and many other gifts and specialty items. Plus, they have an amazing bakery with fresh-made donuts on Saturdays and Sundays! Country Wagon will also be offering pony rides by Heavenly Acres! Country Wagon is open on Saturdays from 8 am until 6 pm.

  • Farming on Solid Ground

    Visit Farming on Solid Ground and relax in their coffeehouse’s rustic wood interior, complete with hand-hewn beams, wood ceiling, two stone fireplaces, pew bench seating in the balcony, booth seating or chairs and wood tables on the main floor. Their coffeehouse will be open for desserts, coffee, tea and more. Tours will be offered of the farm to see their animals, including cows, pigs, and chickens!

  • Hust Roost Farm

    Hust Roost Farm has a variety of baby animals including goats, chickens, turkeys, pigs, and rabbits! Plus, be sure to check out their country store with local products as well as pizza and Gifford’s Ice Cream! Or, grab some Smokey Legend BBQ for lunch! Hust Roost Farm is Open on Saturdays from 9 am until 7 pm.

  • Kimberly's Greenhouses

    Known for being a go-to destination in the Spring, Kimberly's is also open in the fall. They have home grown mums, pumpkins, gourds, containers, and more. Kimberly's will be offering small pumpkin decorating for $5.00.

  • Taste NY - Broome County

    Taste NY-Broome County offers a variety of products produced across New York State and has a small café offering coffee, smoothies, milkshakes, and a small food menu. Taste NY will have samples of products around the store. Taste NY Broome County will be open from 8:30 am until 2 pm.

  • Triple J Farm

    Triple J Farm is located on over 20 acres in Windsor, NY and has chickens, cows, goats, bees, cane corso dogs, apple trees and maple trees. Triple J Farms will be offering an egg hunt, egg painting, a farm tour of their Chicken Coop House that houses over 600 chickens. They will also have eggs and maple syrup for sale. They have a pond that can be available for fish and release – you will need your own fishing tackle and pole.

  • Valley View Farm Fresh Produce

    Valley View is a farm stand offering a variety of products. They will have in-store tastings and activities for kids including bounce houses, games, and Dan the Snake Man. BBQ foods will be available to purchase.  They will be open from 10 am until 3 pm.

  • Windsor Farmers Market

    The Windsor Farmers Market has been a tradition in Windsor for decades. They offer local farmers, crafters and food processors an affordable venue for selling their products and are a regular Saturday morning stop for many local residents as well as the many out of state campers and tourists. In addition to their traditional Farmers Market, they are hosting their annual Artisan Fair and will have live music. They'll be open from 9 am until 4 pm.

  • Windsor Schools Land Lab

    See youth agriculture in action at the Windsor Schools Land Lab! The high school students grow produce to donate back to their school lunch program, raise bees for honey, and have a small orchard. They will be offering tours and demos, showcasing 4-H clubs and FFA projects, a make and take station, and a food vendor.
