Visiting a farm during Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County's Open Farm Day offers a unique opportunity to explore our region's agricultural landscape firsthand. Participants have the opportunity to interact with farmers and gain insights into the practices and processes that sustain local farming communities. Through tours and hands-on-activities, guests can deepen their understanding of sustainable farming techniques and the importance of agriculture in our region. Open Farm Day fosters a sense of connection between consumers and producers, highlighting the significance of supporting local food systems. Whether you're interested in learning more about where your food comes from or simply enjoying a day exploring Broome County, this event offers something for everyone to enjoy and appreciate.
Open Farm Day is held annually in the spring and fall. Spring Open Farm Day will be held on Saturday, April 26th, 2025. Watch this page for updates!

Eleven farms and agricultural businesses are participating in Fall Open Farm Day. Visit as many locations as you like! If you visit four or more locations, you can scan the QR code on your passport to enter to win a gift basket!

Big Yield Growers
Big Yield Growers uses indoor growing technology to produce fresh food year-round.
Those who visit Big Yield Growers can enjoy a farm tour throughout the facility as well as a planting station where people can choose an herb they would like to transplant into a cup for $2.00. They will also have flowers they can also plant for $2.00.

Broome County Regional Farmers Market
The Broome County Regional Farmers Market is open year-round on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm and stocked with over 40 vendors featuring local produce, meat, poultry, eggs, honey, maple, baked goods, prepared food, and more! The market accepts all nutrition incentives, including SNAP/EBT and FreshConnect Checks, which allow SNAP recipients to double their spending up $100!
Visitors to the market can enjoy a springtime scavenger hunt and market BINGO. Everyone who completes the activity and turns it in to the market information booth will receive a prize.

Country Wagon Produce
Country Wagon is a one stop shop for local produce, meats, cheeses, spices, dressings, dips, and many other gifts and specialty items. Plus, they have an amazing bakery open daily with fresh-made donuts on Saturdays and Sundays!
Country Wagon Produce also has a large assortment of spring and summer planting needs including plants, onion sets, seed potatoes, and seeds.
Country Wagon will be offering a free donut and cider for Open Farm Day as well as specialty food sampling! Country Wagon is open on Saturdays from 8 am until 5 pm.

Dutch Hill Farm
Next, we are stopping at Dutch Hill Farm in Castle Creek, NY. At Dutch Hill Farm, visitors can pet their animals, visit with their lambs, and enjoy maple syrup tasting!
Be sure to pick up your passport – if you visit 4 or more locations you can enter to win a gift basket with swag generously donated by the participating locations!

Farming on Solid Ground
Visit Farming on Solid Ground and relax in their coffeehouse’s rustic wood interior, complete with hand-hewn beams, wood ceiling, two stone fireplaces, pew bench seating in the balcony, booth seating or chairs and wood tables on the main floor. Their coffeehouse will be open for desserts, coffee, tea and more. Tours will be offered of the farm to see their animals, Visitors can enjoy a farm tour featuring cows, piglets, egg-laying and meat chickens, turkeys, and their gardens.
Relax in their coffeehouse’s rustic wood interior, complete with hand-hewn beams, wood ceiling, two stone fireplaces, pew bench seating in the balcony, booth seating or chairs and wood tables on the main floor. Their coffeehouse will be open for desserts, coffee, tea and more.

Visitors to Hidden Acres Maple can enjoy tours of their sugarhouse and the sugarhouse woods, as well as samples of maple syrup.

Hust Roost Farm
Hust Roost Farm has a variety of animals including goats, chickens, turkeys, pigs, and rabbits! Plus, be sure to check out their country store with local products as well as pizza and Gifford’s Ice Cream! Hust Roost Farm is Open on Saturdays from 9 am until 7 pm.

Kimberly's Greenhouses
Known for being a go-to destination in the Spring for hanging baskets, containers, flowers, and veggie plants. Kimberly's will be offering a container planting activity for a small fee and painting wooden flowers.

Maine Mavericks, Inc.
Maine Mavericks is a local horse club celebrating their 60th anniversary this year! They welcome the public to kick off their show season with them at Open Farm Day! They are hosting their annual tack sale and BBQ as well as offering free face painting, free horse drawn wagon rides, petting animals such as goats and horses, snack shack, and craft vendors.

New Leaf Cider
Many of you may know New Leaf Cider from the Broome County Regional Farmers Market. They now have their own tap room in Port Crane, NY! They will have their cider maker and owner on site to talk about how they take apples grown in NYS and turn them into delicious apple based beverages both hard and non-alcoholic. They will also have a food special featuring ingredients from vendors at the Broome County Regional Famers Market. They will be open from 12pm to 10 pm.

Silverwind Farm
Silverwind Farm is a small grass-fed beef cattle and pasture-raised pork and chicken farm. Their farm stand is open every day from dusk to dawn.They are at the end of a private lane where you may see their pet calf Benny wandering in the yard.
They will have calves and chickens available for petting. Their two border collies will be ready with balls to catch. They also will have samples of their farm meats.
They are located 25 minutes east of Binghamton outside of Harpursville off of Nabinger Hill Road. Their address is 55 Silverstein Road, Nineveh, NY 13813.

Taste NY at Front Street offers a variety of products produced across New York State and has a small café offering coffee, smoothies, milkshakes, and a small food menu. Taste NY will have samples of products around the store. Taste NY at Front Street will be open from 8:30 am until 1:30 pm.

Valley View Farm Fresh Produce is a farm stand that is celebrating their 40th anniversary!. They will have in-store tastings and activities for kids including bounce houses and a free seeding. BBQ foods will be available to purchase. They will be open from 9 am until 6 pm,

Wild Daisy Acres
Wild Daisy Acres is located in Whitney Point, NY where they handcraft soaps and lotions from the milk produced on their dairy goat farm! They also carry a variety of other handcrafted personal care items like sugar scrubs, salt soaks and lip balms. For the April 20th date, they will be at an off farm location -they will be at the Broome County Farm Grounds for the Maine Mavericks Tack Sale. They will have thei gurad llama, Archer with them, and hopefully some special guest baby goats as well!

Winsor Acres
Winsor Acres is one of the largest farms in Broome County, and raises cows that give us delicious milk to drink! They will have animals to pet, a hay ride, sales of local beef, prok, and dairy products, as well as a fundraiser selling sausage and hamburger meals.
